During these challenging times, we understand the importance of providing support to those in our community who may be facing economic hardships. One way that the Municipality supports Low-income households is with our Low Income Exemption Policy. Through this policy, the Municipality supports Low Income households with an exemption in property taxes on the primary residence of 50% or $200 (whichever is less).

In order to provide further help to low-income households, we're pleased to announce some important updates regarding the policy.

Deadline Extension:

To ensure that all eligible residents have enough time to apply for the Low Income Property Tax Exemption, for this year only, we have extended the application deadline to August 30, 2024. This extension aims to reduce any potential barriers individuals may face in meeting the previous May 15th deadline.

Support Services:

In addition to extending the deadline, we are committed to providing help to applicants throughout the application process. Our dedicated staff members will be available to offer support with filling out the application form. You can drop into our office at 932 Hwy 1 in Hebron on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, where someone will be ready to assist you.

We understand that transportation may pose a challenge for some residents. If you are unable to visit our office due to transportation barriers, we encourage you to reach out to our Senior Safety Coordinator Ashley directly at (902) 881-4099 to schedule a home visit. We are here to ensure that everyone has access to the support they need.
