The Chief Administrative Officer, or CAO, is the senior administrative leader of the Municipality, responsible for managing its day to day activities in accordance with the Municipal Government Act of Nova Scotia.  Working with a Council of seven including the Warden, the CAO provides timely guidance to them and under their direction ensures that all policies, programs and services are carried out effectively.

Victoria Brooks comes to us with a background of considerable municipal experience, having held the position of Deputy CAO with the Municipality of Digby. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Certificate in Local Authority Administration, and a National Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration II: Municipal Governance. Most recently she has been working with the Western Region Enterprise Network (WREN), the region’s economic development agency. As lead for the WREN’s BusinessNow program, Victoria delivered services and programs to businesses both one-on-one and at a sector level.

Victoria spent 12 years in the private sector: retail, light manufacturing, and international procurement capacities.

Warden Leland Anthony stated “We are very pleased to welcome Victoria to the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth team. Her experience and skills will be a great asset to the work that lies ahead. Under her leadership and guidance we look forward to the continued enhancement of the municipality.”

Mrs. Brooks commented “Returning to municipal government has been a long-term goal. Excellence in serving the rate payers and residents of the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth, along with council and staff, will be my priority.”
