1. Communications Officer 

The Municipality of the District of Yarmouth is looking for an experienced professional to fill the full-time role of Communications Officer. The Communications Officer is responsible for coordinating a range of communication services for the Municipality including the preparation and administration of a communication strategy that ensures internal and external communication efforts are effectively coordinated. This includes stakeholder communications, media relations, issues management, marketing communications, social media, speech writing and the development of public announcements and other public communications documents. The Communications Officer is also responsible for communications and marketing for the Cape Forchu Lightstation.

Salary commensurate with education and experience (61,260 – 76,578).

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have excellent demonstrated skills in issues identification and management. Along with excellent writing and editing skills and grammatical knowledge, the candidate will have the ability to effectively advise others and support their writing efforts. Knowledge of and experience in creating content using different writing styles for different purposes and for varied media as well as graphic design skills will also be essential. The candidate must also have a strong understanding of and direct experience in online communications, including how to develop effective online content and campaigns to support business goals. Knowledge of trends, behaviour and needs of online audiences is also crucial.
