The purpose of the Commercial Development District Improvement Plan By-law is to permit the phasing-in, over a period of up to 10 years, of an increase to the taxes payable on at least $100,000 in increased assessed value of certain commercial properties located in the Municipality. The program provides a partial rebate of taxes paid by the Owner during the phasing-in period.
To be eligible, a property must undergo the development before the owner of the property can participate in the Development Rebate Program, and the development project must have a minimum anticipated investment of $100,000.
