Notice of Approval: Wind Turbine Requirements

Amendments to the text of the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth’s Municipal Planning Strategy were approved by Council on March 25, 2026.  The mandatory review by the Department of Municipal Affairs was completed May 13, 2026. The amendments reduce the required minimum distance wind turbines must be located from lot lines, ensuring that they do not exceed the maximum requirements established by the Province. These amendments are effective the date of this notice. Reports are  available to view at pdf HERE(1.48 MB)  or at the Municipal Building between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding Holidays).

Notice of Approval: Land Use By-law Text Amendment Regarding Signs

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT on May 27, 2026 Council approved an amendment to the text of the Land Use By-law which will increase the regulations on signs.

Appeal of this amendment may be made to the Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board within 14 days of the publishing of this notice.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT on May 27, 2026 Council approved an amendment to the text of the Land Use By-law which exempt some developments from the requirement for site plan agreements in the Lakeshore Residential (LR) Zone.
