Municipal Council Moves Forward with Ambitious Strategic Plan for 2025-2029
Yarmouth, NS – On March 26, 2025, The Municipal Council for the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth (MODY) officially adopted its Strategic Plan for 2025-2029; a comprehensive roadmap designed to guide the Municipality’s growth and development over the next five years.
The development of the Strategic Plan was a collaborative effort, incorporating insights from community members, stakeholders, and valued partners. With a renewed vision, the Municipality remains committed to supporting and growing prosperous, resilient, and welcoming communities.
A Vision for the Future
The 2025-2029 Strategic Plan is built on four key pillars that will guide MODY’s progress:
• Economy – Promoting sustainable economic development, supporting local businesses, and investing in key infrastructure projects.
• Governance – Enhancing transparency, improving public engagement, and advancing collaborative regional initiatives.
• People – Fostering inclusivity, improving recreational facilities, and prioritizing emergency preparedness.
• Stewardship – Strengthening asset management, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and enhancing emergency readiness.
“Our goal, within the Municipal mandate, is to skillfully manage key opportunities while addressing challenges that may arise,” said John Cunningham, Warden of MODY. “The Strategic Plan is a reflection of what we’ve heard from residents, ensuring that we focus on areas that matter most to them.”
Commitment to Transparency and Implementation-
The new plan builds on the successes of the previous strategic framework while recognizing evolving economic and social challenges, including affordability concerns, climate change adaptation, and the need for continued regional collaboration.
“Our commitment to accountability and responsiveness remains at the core of this plan,” added Victoria Brooks, Chief Administrative Officer. “Through intentionality and continuous monitoring, we will ensure that the Municipality adapts to changing circumstances while remaining focused on long-term goals.”
A monitoring and measurement system will be implemented to track progress, ensuring timely updates and allowing the Municipality to make necessary adjustments in real-time.
